Using Foundry VTT

Foundry Virtual Tabletop (Foundry VTT) is a modern, self-hosted virtual tabletop (VTT) platform designed to provide a digital "tabletop" experience for role-playing games, allowing players and game masters to gather online.
The Game Master (GM) will provide the web address, user id and credentials to log into the website.
Below are the minimum and recommended requirements needed to run Foundry VTT. Also included is the recommended configuration for hardware acceleration, which will help you get the most out of the hardware and software you have.

Minimum Requirements

Hardware Acceleration

Note: the following instructions work for a Windows 11 PC, and will be similar for Windows 10. If you are using Mac OS or Linux the settings may be different, particularly for the last step, number 4.

  1. Use a Chromium browser: Brave, Chrome, and Edge are all OK
  2. Open your web browser settings:
    • search for "graphics acceleration"
    • make sure it is turned on
  3. Open a new browser window or tab and type "chrome://flags/":
    • search for "override software"
    • make sure this flag is Enabled
    • relaunch your web browser
  4. Open the Windows Settings for your computer:
    • search for "Graphics settings"
    • look under "Custom settings for applications"
    • scroll down the list or search for the web browser you are using
    • make sure the "GPU preference" uses your graphics card - preferably a dedicated GPU and not an integrated GPU, if that choice is available to you
