Additional Backstory

Sarroxtíoð is a young wandering Barbarian of the lesser known Blackfang tribe from the frozen tundra of Tashana on the continent of Sarlona. Like any Blackfang, Sarroxtíoð is blunt, laconic and little interested in the social niceties city dwellers are fond of. Likewise, Sarroxtíoð is neither shy nor ashamed of his Black Dragon ancestry. And like other peoples in the area, the Blackfang also have an understandable pathological hatred of the destructive and malignant Kalaak raiders.
Although Sarroxtíoð has no biological siblings, he considers all other Blackfang around his own age as good as siblings because of the Tashana tradition of communal child rearing.
Before setting out on an adventuring path, Sarroxtíoð’s only contact with the outside world was limited to interactions with Lhazaar traders and pirates doing business in the small port town of Whitetooth on the South-East coast of Tashana. The Blackfang and other Tashana tribes often go there for trade.
On one such trip to Whitetooth, Sarroxtíoð’s best friend, Þradókhil, falsely accused him of stealing from some Lhazaar traders. Luckily for Sarroxtíoð, the tribal elders are well aware of the character flaws of Þradókhil and forced him to recant his accusation. Although Sarroxtíoð forgave him, Þradókhil secretly harbours an irrational, festering, and malignant hatred for Sarroxtíoð over that incident.
His last trip to Whitetooth set Sarroxtíoð on his adventuring path. While searching for a young missing Blackfang girl named Pondégo, he had a chance encounter a Lhazaar woman and Lhazaar sailor, Xenía Ulríka, who helped him find Pondégo. Xenía was flattered that Sarroxtíoð clearly fancied her and was also impressed, in more ways than one, by his bulk and strength. Soon enough, Xenía sought to make a crewman on the ship she served; The Traveller’s Satisfaction[1]. Xenía had little trouble convincing her captain. The captain, Jenko Uríko, just so happens to be her older brother! Jenko rarely says no to his charming younger sister. A charming sister who is also a warrior of no small skill.
During his time on The Traveller’s Satisfaction, Sarroxtíoð realized his own draconic fighting potential. Like other Lhazaar ships engaged in trade, and some piracy on the sly, The Traveller’s Satisfaction did much port-hopping on the way to the ultimate port of call in the city of Sharn. During these stops ashore, Xenía and Sarroxtíoð engaged in no small number of trysts which they both viewed as good fun, rather than serious courtship. Sarroxtíoð naively thought these trysts were kept secret from the crew. All of whom, including Jenko, knew. But sailors from Lhazaar are not unique in quietly overlooking such things. So long as it is done ashore and not at sea, which is the sort of distraction that affects a ship’s well-being.
Once The Traveller’s Satisfaction had docked in Sharn, Sarroxtíoð longed to check out his place which is completely alien to anything he ever experienced. Xenía and Jenko both wished him well. Saying he is was always welcome aboard The Traveller’s Satisfaction. Sarroxtíoð promised to return. Before then, he promised them he would seek every opportunity to toast and pray for The Traveller’s Satisfaction by partaking in Salasta[2] at every opportunity. Even if at an exorbitant price.
Unknown to both Sarroxtíoð and Xenía she is now carrying his child. All thanks to their several “farewell” trysts in Sharn. It will not be long before she notices too!!
Sarroxtíoð now desires two things. First, to become a legendary warrior of great renown. After gaining hard-won battle prowess, he then wants to lead the final campaign to erase the malignant Kalaak raiders of Tashana from existence.

Two Sarroxtíoð Secrets

  1. Known to him – he and Xenía had many trysts ashore. Against all odds, he is blissfully unaware of how poorly kept that secret was.
  2. Unknown to him – Xenía is now carries his child.

Three Frequent Sarroxtíoð Memories

  1. Witnessing the mindless destruction brought on by Kalaak raiders, who victimize everyone else in Tashana out of malicious spite
  2. His time on The Traveller’s Satisfaction – especially the time spent with Xenía.
  3. The thrill of seeing the world outside Tashana for the first time.

Three People Significant to Sarroxtíoð

  1. Friendly – Xenía Ulríka (recent lover)
  2. Friendly – Janko Ulríko (recent boss, and Xenía's older brother)
  3. Hostile – Þradókhil, a schemer who Sarroxtíoð thinks is his friend

  1. The name of this ship is deliberately ambiguous. It can refer to either to travelling mortals, or the enigmatic god known as the Sovereign of Chaos and Change. ↩︎

  2. Salasta is the strong liquor preferred by Lhazaar sailors. It is made from fermented Salas seaweed. ↩︎
