Session Log
Note: Chance has decided he wants to run his character as an Alchemist and not a Sorcerer. He could not make the game tonight, so his character will not be introduced until the first session he can play - after his character is changed to the class he wants.
Each character recently arrived in Sharn independently.
Alicia hails from Cyre, or at least her family hails from the once great nation. The elf Eriana claims to be from the nation of Aundair from the north. Both Ferdinand and Rocinante come from the nation of Karrnath to the north east.
The hulking part-orc Sarroxtíoð claims he comes from the legendary continent of Sarlona - the birthplace of humans. How he came to be in this place so far from home is no doubt an interesting story.
All of them found themselves together at the Golden Hilt tavern in the Lower Mentis plateau. Each was the lucky recipient of a winning ticket they purchased from one of the many drinking establishments they visited in the Downstairs Ward. The ticket gave them a free performance at the nearby Diamond Theatre, followed by drinks and overnight accommodations at this tavern.
Here at the tavern they got to meet each other, finding they had a lot in common and began to strike up a quick friendship. While enjoying their cups a man addressed them briefly and gave them a scroll with a wax seal. Inside was a bounty offer for a group of capable people like themselves.
They were asked to present themselves to a professor in the expensive Crystal Bridge Ward the following morning.
This turned out to be a professor Garthen Daela, a docent of Morgrave University. He found details of an abandoned Cannith laboratory in the Cogs at the base of the city and was looking for a capable group like this one to retrieve it for him.
Professor Daela had a sponsor with him - Haras Kant. He agreed to pay each member of the group 50 silver coins for completing the task. He also promised to pay for other materials of interest they might find in the laboratory, and anything else they found the group would be free to keep and do with as they wish.
Haras Kant was convinced to help make a down-payment for travel expenses to and from the site (10 sp per person to travel on a Sharn Skycoach each way). Professor Daela had a map that would take them to the site through a sewer system in the Cogs.
The group travel to the site, find the entrance to the sewers and were on their way to the location of the laboratory when they run into a local by the name of Thi-Chaik. He is a shifter who claimed to be with the "Red Jackals" clan. Thi-Chaik convinces the party to pay him 30 silver pieces as a "guide" under threat of running foul of his clan and being attacked.
Using money for their return trip to the professor, the party pay Thi-Chaik only to be ambushed by him and two ally shifters deeper in the sewers. The attackers were supported by giant pet rats.
After a brief and tough fight in which Ferdinand and Eriana nearly met their end, the party manage to kill the giant rats and Thi-Chaik's companions. He made a run for it, but the party chase him down and kill Thi-Chaik, then recover the money they paid him.
Each member of the party was wounded from the fight. Alicia used her healing powers to revive Ferdinand and Eriana.
They drag Thi-Chaik's body back to the room where they were ambushed, and Sarroxtíoð decapitates the shifters and Eriana skins the rats. The bodies are looted then dumped in water vats in the rooms previously used for some sort of water system that clearly no longer functions.
After resting here briefly the group are deciding on either continuing to the location of the laboratory entrance or leaving the sewers temporarily to recover.
