Session Log

The party head straight to the university with the woman by the name of Elaydren they met in the Salvation outpost. It seems that word of their arrival must have been sent ahead, as the professor is eagerly waiting for them when they arrive.
They are immediately escorted to his office where he, Elaydren and the party are greeted and seated in his spacious office. The professor initially ignores the party and greets Elaydren with a bow and says "I am so glad to see you back in Sharn safely Lady Elaydren." Drinks and food are brought in and everyone settles down for the meeting.
Professor Daela asks if they were successful, and is obviously happy and exited to hear it was - though they added "mostly", which intrigues the professor. He then has the party do a full recount of their adventure while he listens and makes notes. To this the party is quite faithful in their retelling of the story.
During this recount, the professor periodically glances over at Elaydren to gauge her reaction. Throughout the meeting he frequently glances at her, giving the impression that he is carefully choosing his words and seeking approval from her. It seems clear to most of the party that "Lady Elaydren" is the one who is really in charge here.
When the subject of the schemas comes up they pass the two schemas they recovered to him to inspect. He is clearly very happy to hold and examine both, and seems particularly excited about the large two-foot diameter disc. He asks, "do you know what this is?" When it is clear nobody in the party has a clue, he exclaims "It is a creation pattern! See, this pattern (grabbing the recovered diamond-shaped one) fits in here..." he then rummages around in his desk for the first creation pattern the party found and slots it in another spot on the disk and continues "and the first one you recovered fits here. Clearly there are four patterns in total, so we are still missing two of them."
Upon hearing this, Ferdinand adds that when they were confronted by the Emerald Claw cultists upon exiting the research facility the leader specifically told them to hand over the "third schema". This implies they were at least aware of two others.
This concerns the professor and Lady Elaydren, and he replies that they have to assume the Emerald Claw have somehow managed to either acquire one of the four schemas or they at least know where it is.
During the discussion, Ferdinand asks if anyone else is aware of their discovery, and the professor replies that only he and Lady Elaydren know of this, and they intend to keep it secret - particularly given the attempt on both his life and the theft of the first schema. 003-Ferdinand Blackvenner also suggests they might want to create a copy as a decoy perhaps to lure their enemy in to a trap.
Professor Daela and Lady Elaydren consider that and say it is not a bad idea, but would take some expense and work to pull off. Unfortunately they do not know which of the two other missing schemas the Emerald Claw may possess. They will consider this and see what they can do.
During the discussion, Eriana points out that they did copy down the locations on the map room of other research facilities on Khorvaire. The professor is very interested in that, and asks to borrow their map so he can make notes. He promises to get it back to them once he is finished.
He is also very interested in the research facility keys - he would like the blue one he lent them back, and would like to buy the others. The party decide to keep one each of the duplicates they have (a blue, red and orange key) and sell him the rest at 150 silver pieces each.
After hearing the entire story and having the recovered schema and creation pattern, the professor gives the party their promised reward - a lump sum of 200 gold pieces to add to their treasury. He also says that they may keep the magic spacious pouch, advanced funds and other items he provided the party.
At this point Lady Elaydren addresses the group and asks if they would be willing to help them solve the puzzle of the other missing schemas. She and the professor would like to call on them when they have had time to do a bit more research and figure out what to do next.
Having just made out quite well financially, the party agree. They plan on staying at the same inn as before - the Golden Hilt Tavern.
They conclude the meeting, then head out to enjoy some well deserved downtime.
At this point the adventure is officially over. During the next two weeks of downtime both Rocinante and Saferous decide to retire in Sharn once they have finished with the treasury.
