Session Log

After the blockage of the doorway is cleared, the party gets ready to open the door with Sarroxtíoð in the lead.
Light streams through the door as he pushes it open into a large chamber. The moment he pushes the door open he hears movement and sees familiar undead skeletal warriors approaching.
The undead are quick to move and get to the doorway before Sarroxtíoð is able to step inside. with shields raised, the undead attack with the big half-orc blocking the doorway.
Eriana is able to bound down the stairs and tumble past the first skeleton, strike it and tumble past it again and up the stairs. Ferdinand attempts a similar maneuver but fails, also failing to hit the skeleton before backing up behind Sarroxtíoð. Lined up in the hallway and up the stairs, Alicia fires crossbow bolts at the skeleton warrior and Harbek uses his Divine Lance cantrip spell. The dwarven oracle manages to critically hit the skeleton, clearly causing quite a bit of damage to it. Leodegar has not had much luck with his crossbow, so he holds off by tries to study the undead to see if he can offer any suggestions to help defeat them.
The first skeleton is taken out quickly, but the other three in the room step in to replace it. Again both Eriana and Ferdinand attempt to tumble past the skeletons but fail. Eriana resorts to flinging her throwing knives. Sarroxtíoð has some success with his sword, but at one point he fumbles and accidentally flings it backwards up the stairs where it lands at the feet of Leodegar. He then resorts to using the Greataxe in melee that the party recently discovered.
Continued attempts to tumble past the skeletons eventually pays off for Eriana and she is able to get into the room and help in the fight. A fustrated Ferdinand failed in several attempts at tumbling past the undead, but manages to succeed in diverting their attention with a fancy move that gets him into the room.
Sarroxtíoð connects with the Greataxe but is not terribly impressed with it. Meanwhile, continued ranges support from Alicia and Harbek help in the fight.
Each skeleton appears to use similar tactics - raising their shields and wielding Longswords, actively deflecting attacks with their shields. Two of the shields are broken early in the fight from significant damage, after which the fight gets a bit easier without their additional defences.
Combat only lasts a few more rounds before all the skeletons are defeated. Ferdinand was badly hurt, but Alicia had great success patching up his wounds, restoring him fully. Nobody else was significantly injured in the fight.
The chamber they enter has a large, long-extinguished hearth dominating the center of a spacious hall some 25 feet across and 50 feet wide. There are stone benches around the hearth. Two altars stand against the west wall nearly baren, save for a few stone urns. There are murals on the same wall that depict grand scenes of epic battles. The room also has three familiar braziers lit with what appears to be more Everlight braziers.
While in this chamber Alicia gets the sense that it seems a bit more oppressive and slightly darker here. She guesses that perhaps the intensity of the Mabarren manifestation zone is stronger here, but she can not be certain.
This large room also has several exits. There are two hallways on the east wall near each corner of the room. Between the hallways is an impressive set of double stone doors, and there is a smaller stone door on the south wall. There is also a passage on the west wall at the south west corner of the room.
The passage on the west wall reveals a set of steep stairs heading up for about 30 feet before turning to the right (north).
Each passage on the east wall continues at the same level for about 30 feet before turning to the north (for the northmost passage) and south (for the southmost passage).
Ferdinand examines the double doors and notices intricate and impressive designs carved into the door, designed to mesh together over both doors. There are impressive handles to pull the door open, but when he tries to open them the doors do not budge at all. He sees no locks, but guesses it must be locked. He pulls out his tools and tries to see if there is a lock to bypass, but does not find a way to open them.
Leodegar examines the door and is convinced there is more than just a lock at work here. He thinks it may be enchanted to prevent the doors from being opened. The only way past them could be by destroying them, or knowing the correct method to bypass the magic. Since these are obviously big heavy stone doors, breaking them would be difficult.
They leave these doors for the moment and Ferdinand takes a look at the single stone door on the south wall. It also has a handle but no fancy art, and no apparent locking mechanism. He tries to open it but it doesn't budge. However, he thinks that is likely due to it being stuck, as there is some give to it.
Sarroxtíoð offers to step up and use his crowbar to force it open. Eriana and Ferdinand get on either side and aid him in the effort. With a small amount of work they are able to force the door open. Rocks tumble into the room when they unstick the door and pull it open. There is a small, 5 foot long passage opening into a much larger chamber. This small entrance is filled with rubble, but not enough to prevent them from entering the room beyond.
The expansive chamber was once divided into three smaller rooms. Now, remnants of former walls and heaps of bones litter the floor, amidst which intricate magical circles have been painted. Shattered sarcophagi line the walls; some remain sealed while others gape open, revealing an eerie emptiness within.
As Sarroxtíoð begins to enter the room by scrambling over the small cave-in he hears chanting in the room beyond. He and those following him see several robed figures in the room and one familiar skeletal warrior in rusted armour.
Alicia is the first to react, moving in near a large table and shooting her Arbalest at the nearest figure in robes. They appear human and not undead, and certainly respond as she would expect when struck with the missile weapon.
As combat ensues, they see three robed figures within. Two appear to cast summoning spells, conjuring up humanoids with sickly greenish skin and mishappen large toothy maws. They rush in and attack the party. Both Eriana and Ferdinand are able to tumble into the room and occupy the third robed figure hit by the Arbalest.
The skeletal warrior rushed to the door and ends up in melee with Sarroxtíoð along with one of the conjured creatures.
They assume these creatures must be undead when Alicia manages to hit one and it gets slightly illuminated by the effect of her holy weapon.
Several critical hits happen during the first three rounds of combat from the party, which help to take out the first robed figure and render it unconscious or dead. Sarroxtíoð manages to take out the first summoned undead although it did manage to scratch him before dying. 006-Sarroxtíoð decided to switch out his Greatsword for the Greataxe, but went into melee with shield and his magic Longsword.
One of the summoned undead creatures managed to hit Eriana and grapples her. It smells foul and its slashing claw causes a numbing sensation, but she is able to break free from it immediately afterwards.
Ferdinand fumbles with his magic rapier and has broken it trying to hit the second summoned creature. The weapon is likely salvageable, but not useable until it gets fixed.
The robed figures are clearly spellcasters, and two of them unleash spells that cause immediate and intense pain - badly injuring both Eriana and Ferdinand.
The session ends mid-combat about to enter the third round. One robbed figure is down along with one of the summoned undead. The skeletal warrior is still standing and in melee with Sarroxtíoð, though it is clearly badly injured. It was hit critically by Harbek and his Divine Lance cantrip.
