Session Log

Once the party is back in the Town of Lakeside on Zarantyr the 6th, they rest up briefly before heading towards the nearest lightning rail station in Fort Deepdark.
Before leaving they stock up on a few items. Ferdinand learns that Harbek has some Crafting skill and can potentially repair his broken +1 rapier. Ferdinand purchases a Repair Toolkit for Harbek if he promises to fix the rapier. It takes the dwarven oracle a few hours, but he manages to do a decent job and fixing the weapon.
Eriana manages to replace several throwing daggers, and Alicia replaces her dwindling supply of crossbow bolts and pays to restock the same ammunition for Ferdinand and Leodegar.
The party travel through the villages of Brek and Lhaz and arrive at Fort Deepdark on the 13th, which happens to be Revelation Day. There are clearly some in the fort observing the holiday, but the party keep a low profile and get on the first lightning rail out of the settlement heading west.
On the very next day of travel Harbek reminds the party of the monthly holiday of Rebirth Eve - an event which he observes at the Winter Solstice.
It takes just over 2 days to arrive at the city of Rekkenmark in western Karrnath. They board a ferry to the city of Thaliost then get on the next lightning rail to follow it all the way to Sharn.
Fortunately the party still has the money given to them to travel the lightning rail - a sum of 758sp for each member. It is too much money for Hrovard to pay, so the party use funds allocated for Sarroxtíoð to pay his fair. During their travel on the lightning rails they enjoy the 10 bottles of salasta that were owned by Sarroxtíoð, raising glasses in honour of his memory.
From Thaliost it takes just under 4 days to arrive at the city of Sharn, pulling in late on the evening of Zarantyr the 20th.
They head immediately to the Golden Hilt Tavern and arrange for accommodations. Both Harbek and Leodegar head to Morgrave University. They both had arrangements to be compensated for the mission separately, so here they part ways with the group. Leodegar has made it clear he feels like he has had enough of this sort of adventure for a while and looks forward to staying at the university.
Harbek seems much more open to potentially joining the party. He is offered to join with them if he wishes, but he is unsure for now. He wants to settle in for a few days and see what the omens indicate he should do. He promises to get in touch with the party shortly. He will also let professor Garthen Daela the party has returned and arrange for them to meet on the following day.
Early on the morning of the 21st, the party head up to the University to meet the professor. They hook up with Harbek and Leodegar and after waiting for a couple of hours manage to meet with Garthen Daela and Lady Eladren in the professors office.
The Professor and Lady Eladren are sad to learn of the passing of Sarroxtíoð. They are pleased to see that everyone returned safely and that the party was able to retrieve some information. They pay the party the promised 200gp for their mission and the party hand over the journal with the elven writing.
Professor Daela calls for a scholar who is well versed in elvish to come and begin reviewing the journal. Meanwhile, the party relate everything that happened on their trip into and out of Karrnath. They also introduce Hrovard as a fellow party member that can be trusted, and that they have confided in about their adventures during their trip back to Sharn.
When they conclude their business Lady Eladren asks if the party are still staying at the Golden Hilt Tavern, and they confirm. She wishes them well and says perhaps she will be in touch again when they learn more - with any luck what the party recovered will help keep them one step ahead of the Emerald Claw in recovering the missing schemas.
After this meeting the party then spend the next 10 days in Sharn based out of the Golden Hilt Tavern. They divide up the treasury and do a bit of shopping in the city.
On the evening of the 10th day, on Olarune the 2nd, a message arrives while they are enjoying drinks and a meal in the commons room. The rain has returned after a few welcome days of sun, and now the steady beat of water falling on the roof and nearby suspended walkways fills the air with constant noise. A side door opens, and one of Sharn’s gargoyle messengers enters the room. Rain runs in rivulets down the creature’s stony hide, reminiscent of the way it cascades down the stone towers of the city. A House Vadalis signet hangs from the harness around the gargoyle’s chest.
The gargoyle calls out the names of each party member, including Hrovard. The party call out to the gargoyle to accept its message. It then steps towards the party, shaking the ground with its heavy stony footfalls.
“The Lady has need of you,” the gargoyle says in a raspy voice that sounds like stones being scraped together. He reaches into the pouch slung over his shoulder and drops a sealed envelope onto the table. With a nod, the gargoyle turns and disappears back into the rain-filled city.
Eriana is quick to grab the sealed envelope. She opens it and reads aloud:
Friends,
Another opportunity to earn gold and perform a service for House Cannith presents itself. Please meet me at my town house at the sound of the second evening chime. Come to the Parlan Tower in Middle Central, Town House 19.
