Session Log

Note: Luke is rejoining the players to get back into the game. We spent the first half of the session having him create a new character which will join the game next session.
The party and the rest of the crew are slow to react when the sailor gets pulled off the deck of the ship.
Fortunately, the sailor is very quick to respond. He is a good swimmer, and he manages to grab the edge of the river boat, haul himself up and back onto the deck before being grabbed. As he quickly climbs up he yells out Sahuagin!
This draws the party to the port side of the ship to see what attacked him.
Before they all get a view of the water one of the creatures climbs up the side of the river boat, hangs onto the railing and stabs Harbek with a trident. The dwarfs first reaction is that this is not a Sahaugin - at least it does not look like those creatures they encountered in the Sea Dart underwater craft. However, they are humanoid fish men of some type.
It turns out that there are four of these creatures. One is holding onto a railing attacking Harbek and the other three are in the water.

Eriana runs up and grapples the one attacking Harbek. She critically hits it and pins it in a powerful hold and stabs it. She can tell that the creature is very strong.
While she is holding onto the creature Hrovard runs up and hammers it twice with his flail, killing it.
Ferdinand rushes to the port side to take a look and draws a rapier, but there is nothing to hit with it. Muroni does the same, drawing her shortsword, but the creature being held is dead by time she gets there.
Alicia takes the time to grab her arbalest with a bolt loaded and get into position to defend the group and see what is going on.
Another one of the creatures hurls its trident at Eriana who is the easiest target as she is partially leaning over the railing as she still holds onto the now dead creature. It misses and the trident falls back into the water. The creature swims to retrieve its weapon, moving very quickly just under the water.
After this another creature attempts to climb the edge of the river boat and fails. It throws its trident at Eriana and hits her.
Meanwhile, there are shouts on deck. All of the sailors move to a safer position in the middle of the river boat and grab spears to defend themselves should any of the creatures come on deck.
Eriana tosses the dead creature she grappled onto the deck and grabs one of her throwing daggers. Everyone else on deck reaches for a ranged weapon. At this time the captain yelled out and begins to steer the ship away from the creatures.
Before they get very far Eriana leaps off the deck in an attempt to land on one of the creatures and stab it. She misses and splashes into the water next to it, but does manage to stab it.
The sailors all yell out "customer overboard!" This makes captain Chinxero yell out a curse and quickly bring the ship to a halt.
Everyone with a ranged weapon begin to shoot at the creatures as all three swim over to surround and attack Eriana.
One of the creatures gets slashes badly by Eriana and Muroni is able to kill it with a well aimed bow shot (scoring a critical hit). The other two creatures flank Eriana and try to tear into her.
At one point she is critically hit and stunned. She is bleeding badly as her allies try to shoot the other two creatures. They are having some success. Ferdinand has a crossbow, Muroni is using her bow and Hrovard has some throwing darts. Harbek is close enough to attack with spells. In addition, Alicia is able to offer some protection for Eriana by well-timed crossbow shots that disrupt the creatures attacks.
However, despite the support Eriana ends up nearly unconscious and in tough against two of the remaining creatures. Sensing her distress, Harbek uses his divine power to heal her at a distance, significantly boosting her while she is stunned and begins to sink into the water as she slashes at one of the creatures.
The ranged attacks succeed in killing off one of the remaining two creatures. After it dies the last one looks around and decides to leave. It ducks underwater and swims away at a rapid speed.
Eriana swims to the river boat and climbs back up onto the deck.
Everyone relaxes after the combat as the captain brings the ship up to speed, leaving the area as quickly as possible.
