Session Log

After the combat with the giant zombie Alicia and Harbek spend about an hour or so patching people up by treating wounds and using their magic. When the zombie exploded it injured most members of the group, so everyone requires a bit of healing.
While they are recovering from these two, the rest of the group all search through the drifts of dust in the room for anything interesting.
They find a large hunk of badly corroded metal. It gets passed around before someone finally realizes that it is actually a hunk of silver. it must weigh a couple of pounds, suggesting if it is pure silver would be worth a few hundred silver pieces. This is the only thing of interest in the room, so they stash the metal in their spacious pouch.
It is quite late in the day at this point, so the party decide they should retreat to the room they slept in the night before to recover.
Everyone moves downstairs back to that large chamber and camps out for the night. The evening passes without incident, though the sounds of loud thumping continues to be heard beyond the closed stone door on the south wall. It seems like the thumping was louder and more frequent this time, and there is also faint scrapping and clicking noises as well.
In the morning, everyone packs up and return to the previous level of the complex above and continue their search.
There is another door nearby from the chamber that led to the room with the giant zombie. The door is on the south wall, and appears to be unlocked and not trapped.
Ferdinand opens the door, which leads into a 60-foot wide empty chamber that is 40-feet across. It appears empty, and after quick search they find nothing here of interest.
The only areas not searched on this floor is the north east corner of the floor, and the outer ledge. They've already been told nothing exists on the outer ledge except for aggressive gorillas, which the Emerald Claw cultists avoided.
Everyone moves to the north east and find a single, partially open door at the end of a long passage. As they approach the door a terrible odour is noticed emanating from the opening. They look inside and see the stone door is open about half way and appears stuck on junk in the room. The chamber must be over 100-feet wide and 40-feet across. Within, the stench of unwashed animals is overpowering. Piles of furs and wide leaves gathered from the surrounding jungle dot the chamber. Many animals obviously use this place as a den. As they glance around, a nearby shadow to the north moves and a white gorilla with four arms emerges from the darkness with a menacing roar.

Before it can rush the group, Eriana quickly runs in, punches the creature and grapples it from the north east corner of the chamber - firmly holding onto one of its massive legs.
In response, the giant ape shrugs free then turns and pummels Eriana with its massive arms, smashing her in the corner of the room. Eriana remains standing, but the savage attack nearly knocks her out.
The rest of the party begin to move into the room and fire ranged weapons and spells at the creature.
Ferdinand attempts to tumble past it, then dazzles the creature with his magic shield.
Rebar and Arkaban each use Phase Bolt cantrips on it, while Muroni shoots it with arrows and Hrovard hurls a javelin at the creature. Alicia moves into position to cover most of the group and shoots it with her arbalest. Harbek moves in and casts a Bless spell to support the party in the fight.
(In the first round of the fight the party collectively manage to score 4 critical hits against the creature, causing it significant damage.)
The giant ape is clearly affected by the magic shield, glancing around at everyone attacking it in a rage. It clobbers Ferdinand with a mighty fist and then tries to bite him, but does not connect - most likely due to its trouble seeing clearly.
Hrovard switches to his two-handed axe and runs in, taking a swing and missing. The creature swats at his axe and knocks it out of his hands. Ferdinand and Eriana continue to strike at it in melee, with all three of them surrounding it and putting it off-guard.
The rest of the party support with ranged attacks - spells and missile weapons. Muroni decides to switch to melee weapons, dropping her bow and drawing a shortsword as she runs into melee.
While this combat rages on, everyone else hears roars from outside getting closer. Two gorillas appear and push themselves into the room.
It is not long after this that the giant beast is killed. Combat then shifts to attack the two gorillas.
These prove to be considerably weaker, and are quickly killed under the combined attacks of the party.
Moments after they are taken down, additional roars can be heard getting closer. The party all wait to ambush the next wave of gorillas. Two more appear and barely get to act before they are cut down.
After this pair of gorillas appear, there are more roars from the south getting closer.
This time the party position themselves in the hallway to ambush the primates as they get closer. Once again, the gorillas appear and attempt to attack but are quickly cut down.
There are no more sounds of angry gorillas after the last pair are killed, leading the party to conclude that this must be the last of them.
