Session 0057 - Battle at The Colossal Chair

Session Log

The session begins with Maisy Beckett/Garrow having moved behind the massive chair and disappearing and Eriana hearing noises and seeing lights from a large hallway to the north.
She spots a large warforged running down the hall wielding a scimitar, and calls out in warning to the others.
Hrovard runs up and stands at the other side of the archway to the passage from Eriana and also spots the warforged. It looks bigger and bulkier than Rebar. He has his axe in hand and shield up, ready to fight it.
Ferdinand races up and down the hallway, right up to the warforged and gives it a mighty stab with his rapier. He clearly damages it, but the warforged does not seem badly injured. Not long after, Ferdinand hears and sees additional emerald claw soldiers appear at the end of the hallway, shields raised and swords drawn. He calls out in warning to the others.
Alicia had moved up and taken a shot at the warforged, but missed. Muroni also targets it and fires arrows at it while moving up, but also misses.
Meanwhile, Eriana and Rebar both hear the sounds of heavy footsteps moving to the front of the large chair, at ground level below the platform. Eriana tosses a Sulfur Bomb (lesser) at where she believes the invisible Maisy Beckett/Garrow to be and hits the side of the platform. This convinces her and Rebar of where that person must be.
Rebar moves into a better position on the arm of the giant chair to get a better vantage, but can not see the person - but now can hear and smell them.
Harbek moves up, after sustaining his Bless spell and continuing to expand its reach. He is much slower than the others, trying his best to keep up but also protecting himself with a Shield spell.
Seeing Ferdinand face-to-face with the warforged with fresh emerald claw solders running his way, Hrovard runs in to join him as well as Eriana.
Ferdinand uses his magic buckler, and manages to perform a feint maneuver that Dazzles the warforged moments before he hits it critically and causes it to stagger somewhat. Seizing on the opportunity, Eriana was able to move in, stab it and then manage to grapple and hold onto it.
At the same time, Alicia moves up and shoots at it but misses. She is joined by Muroni who does manage to hit it with an arrow and Arkaban appears by the archway and fires a Phase Bolt cantrip at it and misses.
Meanwhile, Rebar is still on the giant chair and hears the invisible person moving on the metal platform the chair sits on. Rebar is certain the person moved to the opposite side of the chair out of its sight. Before running into melee, Eriana was aware of the invisible Maisy Beckett/Garrow but choose to help with the fight in the hallway. They both also heard someone else invisible moving in the area, but that was likely Arkaban who appears casting a spell at the warforged in the hallway.
From this point on the combat starts to turn badly for the party. They succeed in taking out the warforged before it can cause much harm, though it did land a powerful hit on Ferdinand. At this point three soldiers have formed a line to fight the three party members in the hallway with three more farther down the hallway using light crossbows to shoot at Alicia, Muroni, Arkaban, and Harbek.
The soldiers in melee do surprisingly well, and Hrovard gets critically hit three times and falls unconscious and dying. Unfortunately, luck was not with him and he failed to land a solid blow on any of his foes before falling. Both Ferdinand and Eriana are both badly hit, Eriana also taking a critical hit but they remain standing.
Ferdinand tumbles past one soldier to take a position nest to the wall opposite Eriana and lands a critical blow on the soldier taking them out.
Seeing how the battle is turning, Alicia runs up and quickly uses her healing abilities to Lay on Hands to both Hrovard and Eriana. Harbek makes it to the archway and has just enough range to use his healing abilities to patch up those two even more.
Healing Potions are consumed as well by the front line while they try to hold off the soldiers, so although they are all reeling it has stabilized the fight somewhat.
Meanwhile, the crossbowmen at the back shoot at the party members in the rear, wearing them down while they target the soldiers in melee trying to turn the tides back in the party's favour.
While this is going on 013-Rebar moved to attack the invisible Maisy Beckett/Garrow using its Hand of the Apprentice ability to shoot it with a dagger, but they miss. Moments after that Rebar feels the entire chair and platform start to rumble with a strange hum in the area.
Rebar decides to move off the chair and platform and joins the others by the archway to support the combat in the hallway.
Shortly after Rebar gets there a bright and brief flash is seen from the chair and platform. Harbek thinks he saw the silhouette of someone on the platform near the chair in the flash.
Too busy with combat, everyone turns their attention to the remaining five emerald claw soldiers.
